Unique Start to Our Morning Routine

As always, we get up, get Drew ready......and David & I part company. I leave to take Drew to daycare & go into work a bit early. David leaves a few minutes later heading down to Starkvegas.

I(kk) made it into work around 7:15am. Around 7:45, I got a phone call from David. He was sitting on the side of the road about 30 minutes south of Tupelo. We believe it's a problem with the radiator. Regardless, I called the necessary folks with our insurance (which took about 20 minutes), arranging a tow truck & working out what mechanic's shop to have it dropped at. Then, I headed out to go pick him up.

The good news, David is okay. He was able to pull off at a great spot with plenty of room for the wrecker & they will be working on his car today. I will be on the road tomorrow for work & he will be able to use my car without any issues.

So, instead of being upset about this, we are just very thankful that it everyone is safe. Obviously, we hope that it is not a big deal with the car (financially speaking). Plus, we had the opportunity to eat lunch together today (which is a special treat). I will be working late tonight because of my meeting tomorrow....this afforded time for us to spend together (I will probably be working till midnight & wouldn't have seen David till tomorrow night).

A Horse is a Horse, of Course

We happened to be running an errand at the mall this weekend, and we couldn't resist a carousel ride!

Here's a snap of the two of us......and a quick video of Drew waving to Daddy!!

Little Monkey

WE ARE IN TROUBLE NOW!!!!!!

Valentines

Did I mention that David arranged for a babysitter & took me out for Valentines? Thankfully, we went out the Saturday night before.......b/c we had the stomach virus on the 14th.

Here's a picture of us, via our babysitter.....

I look like my eyes are about to bug out! I must have been REALLY EXCITED about the opportunity to have a "date!"

Our New Routine

Here's a picture from our new routine... nebulizer time.
Each treatment takes 10-15 minutes each. If we do the two different medicines back to back, Drew has to play in his high chair for 25+minutes.

We have never been more thankful that he loves books!!

Heartbreaking News

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.” Job 1:21

I was broken hearted to learn that my little brother & his wife have lost their precious little one. Please be in prayer for them. It's so hard to have heard the heartbeat of your child, be full of excitement & joy......only to find out that all is lost.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

I don't think I will understand the Lord's ways when a child is lost (no matter at what age) while I dwell on this earth, but I do know that He has plans that are bigger & brighter than we can even imagine.

Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place. Psalm 51:6

I find hope that the Lord was near their child even in the womb. I have no doubt He holds the little one close to His own breast. Praise God that this child will never see the hurt, pain, and sin that this world has to offer.

I pray for healing for Kellie & Matt: physically, emotionally & spiritually. Please lift them up.

Medicine Chase

Drew loves to be chased. Here is a particularly funny chase, when Daddy tries to give him some medicine. Enjoy!

Snow Days

We have had snow 4 times since Christmas... I thought I lived in the South, apparently not. I've never had this much snow in my entire life. It has snowed every winter since David & I were married.

Here are a few pictures from some of our adventures in snowland.

Drew enjoyed the snow for a while, then just as we began trying to take a picture, he was cold & tired....ready to go in. Love that we captured this moment though.

New Drew Moments

For a quick catch up on some of Drew's milestones/funny antics/wonderful stage that he's in.......

Drew's favorite toys:
Books, Books, Books
The boy loves books!! He loves to read his books on his own, but really loves to come sit in your lap & sit down for a read. He will pick out a book (or two or three or four) and bring it to you. Then, he turns around & backs up with his little booty to sit down on your lap. Sometimes, his aim is off...which is hilarious. Love these moments!!

His new word: CAR
For the last several months, Drew has been obsessed with cars. He loves to stand on the sidewalk/yard & watch the cars go by. Even if we're inside, he stands at the front door & watches the cars. He has even learned the "sign" word for car.
We have lots of tractor stuff as well around the house, but they are "cars" to Drew as well.
He has begun to play with his push/riding cars in a new way. His new daredevil act is to stand on one of this cars & jump/rock.....which in more times than not, ends up in a fall of some sort.
He can pick out a car in person, in books & pictures......trust me, he knows all things CAR.

He has 12 teeth!!
We discovered yesterday that 4 molars have appeared over this past month (out of the blue). We believe this played a role in why he remained sick for so long (because his body was going through another bout of teething). While it is terribly cute right now, Drew definitely has David's patented front teeth gap. David had the same thing as a child. I'm not in the least worried about it though. I'm sure with David & I both having had braces in our past, Drew is destined for the same fate. Plus, he's so cute!! Who cares?!

Drew's New Discovery:
That you don't have to just receive tickles, you can give them too. He first discovered that he could tickle me (about 4 weeks+ ago). However, Drew has so much more fun with he & Momma tag team & tickle Daddy together!!

Sick Boys

Well, sickness is back at the Keeney House.

Drew has had a series of one illness after another this year. The latest one: bronchitis. The bronchitis we believe occurred after he had the flu, that settled into his lungs for a little visit. The doctor was great & put him on an antibiotic & steroids to fight it off. We saw great improvement for about a week.....until this weekend. The cough which never completely left, came back with a vengence. It was, of course, worse at night. For two nights of virtually no sleep (ie. coughing all night), I (kk) took him back to the doctor.

So, one day of work missed, 3 hours in a doctor's office....& the equilavent to a mortgage payment later...we are the proud new owner's of a nebulizer for Drew. We have another round of antibiotics, some Rx cough medicine (PTL), and a few boxes of nebulizer meds. We hope this will knock out the remainder of this respiratory infection. We hate to see the little guy sick & not getting any rest (of course, that means we haven't rested either).

The doctor believes that little Drew potentially has asthma. He is just not fighting back the way a typical child of his age should. However, with him having had RSV last January, it is possible his lungs have just not fully recovered. He believes Drew has a significant chance of having asthma, but doesn't want to diagnose him with it so young.

Having lived my entire life with asthma, this is something that I can wrap my brain around & feel much better about having a nebulizer at my disposal. It's definitely not something you want for your child, but appreciate the honesty of my family physician.

Busy

Life has been busy the last few months. We haven't had a chance to breath. In fact, I'm still at work as I (kk) type this post. David & Drew have been frequently bringing dinner to me at least 3 nights a week.....so, I can keep pushing my work out.

I love my job. I love my co-workers & boss. I don't love the hours. However, I know this is where God wants me. So, here I am. Praise God for a loving & supportive husband!! This week, I managed to cook supper 3x & he was so excited. He is not a man of many words, but he is always extra boastful about my cooking....makes a girl smile :)

One of David's co-workers adopted a baby from Nepal this week. David is covering one of his classes while they are out of the country. It has been a very long and hard journey for this couple. They spent over a month last fall in Nepal, after being approved for the adoption & then the U.S. Embassy shut down the adoptions in that country. So, they had to leave their child in the orphanage. Thru a ton of letter writing by thousands of people to our senators, representatives and State Department......& most importantly, the grace & perfect timing of our Lord...they got the call last week. This week, they officially adopted their son. Congrats to Mike & Karyn! Welcome to parenthood!!

As many of you know, I have always wanted & planned on adopting. I praise God every day that He gifted David & I with Drew. It is so hard to see what our friends have gone through, but so wonderful to see the beautiful beginning of their family. We pray that God will still make this hope of adopting, a reality. Till then.....I'm loving my house full of boys....in fact, I think I might just go home RIGHT NOW!! Bye for now....
