First Day of Shoes

Drew started walking, really walking. Not just 1 or 2 steps. Granted he still crawls a lot (because it's faster).

However, the daycare informed us that if he was walking, he needs shoes. Shoes....doesn't seem like a big deal. You must understand. We do good to keep the boy in socks. However, since we only had a days notice on this. We took our first trip to the shoe store exclusively for Drew.

We ended up with some pretty cool kicks for him. They are Converse© Allstars. I'm very thankful we found some that weren't too heavy & bulky......plus were VELCRO!! Never in my life would I ever think "Praise the Lord for Velcro"! Again, something only motherhood could do!!

Thankfully, we remembered to take pictures of Drew's first day in shoes. He loves them. [We even managed to find some Sunday shoes very similar to this from Gymboree©.]

D.C. TRIP #1

I really should label this: Planes, Trains & Automobiles.

We started our adventure driving to Memphis. Flying to Atlanta, then D.C (via Washington Dullos). Taking a bus (Washington Flyer) to the first available Metro (West Churchill Falls). Then, taking the Metro/Train to Dupont Circle (where our hotel was located) with a few line changes. This all with 3 suitcases, 3 carryon bags, and a baby in a stroller......Doesn't it sound like fun already?!

This was David & Drew's first trip to our nation's capital (& capitol...lol). Enjoy some of our adventures....during of course one of the rainiest weeks on record for d.c.

We took the Metro everywhere. While my (kk) least favorite public transit train system in the US, we were happy to not have bother renting a car.

We saw all the typical sites (memorials along the mall, smithsonians, and museums).

Here is Drew hanging out with Jefferson.

Chilling at the National Cathedral.

We also saw a few new things (to even me). For example: Chinatown...small but very vibrant.

National Aquarium... very small, but perfect for Drew. He loved trying to touch all the brightly colored fish.

We even saw a clown fish that could have been Nemo!!

Then, I was almost attacked by a shark!! Oh my!!

Speaking of close encounters, David & Drew barely survived meeting a T-rex.

But at the end of it all......."HOPE" won out & we "weathered" our trip just fine.

Speaking of "Hope, we can believe in!" Here's to Election 2032!!
