Pain in the Back

Well…..it has just not been my week…..or last week for that matter. It seems the ol’ devil is just trying to get me down & keep me down. Last week, everything that could go wrong did…..plus some. Every day at work…..got progressively worse. I’ve never experienced anything like it.

We worked in the yard (digging up tree roots & planting hedges) Friday & Saturday…..and I started getting sick Saturday. Head pounding, throat constricting….hurting all over. I pushed thru it Saturday and finally crashed about 8pm that night. However, when I awoke Sunday morning… I felt like I had the full blown flu. I stayed in bed or on the couch all day. Well, I guess the yard work caught up to me……because as I was lying on the couch Sunday afternoon…I turned over & my back went out. Just like that. David stayed home with me Monday & Tuesday. I don’t know what I would have done without him. He’s gets an A+ for husband work this week!!

So, today is my first day “back” at work……with my heavy pain meds & muscle relaxers in toe. I’m walking like Frankenstein, but I’m here. (Don’t worry. I’m staying put all day). I hate to think that I’ve used all my vacation time till October now. (I missed a few days with David being sick earlier this year & now me). 5 days (yep that’s personal, vacation, sick etc) every six months just doesn’t cut it. There’s just something not right about that system. I was hoping for us to get away for a long weekend this summer. Alas, that’s just how it is. I’m just thankful that I did have the days to take off when I needed them.

Okay, I can tell the drugs are making me ramble a bit. On to more important & better topics:
-Saturday, the March for Babies went great. I walked for MollyKate (the daughter of friends of ours that went to be with the LORD last October). Last week, I went to a revival where her mother (Keri) shared her testimony! She’s so strong!! God bless her!! All told, the March raised $60,000. MollyKate’s team raised over $5k and won several awards. Please continue to lift up the McMillin family!
-Saturday night, SupperClub was fun & included David’s favorite food…..Tacos. Everything was delicious!! We love Mexican. Libby, I want your enchiladas recipe! Sadly, we had to leave a bit early b/c I was fading fast. David was a real trooper and took me home, gave me some medicine, & sent me to bed.
-We finally decided to have someone put up our privacy fence. It seems to be divine intervention that we made that choice. There’s no way I could do that now. It is scheduled to be finished TODAY!
-I married the most awesome man in the world!! Speaking of: David’s Cal 3 final is Friday. Keep him in your prayers.

Moving On Up!!......Jefferson Style

We have officially moved out of the ghetto.... or at least to a better ghetto anyway! We're excited about having more room.....downside, no storage space. We are swimming in cardboard!! I still can't find anything. We have yet to clean our apt & hopefully, get our deposit back. Every dime will help!

We've been so busy the last few weeks. I've hardly had time to do anything.
We have a new dog. I keep meaning to take his picture, but forget when I go home. He's precious, smart, and HUGE!! We could put a saddle on him for the neighborhood kids to ride!

We've been letting the grass grow (it looks awful) but it's for a good purpose. There are all these surprises lurking everywhere. There are random flowers scattered all around. We are trying to dig them up and put them in some semblance of order. Hopefully, we'll get the yard mowed sometime before our neighbors go crazy!!

I can't even discuss what work has been like this week. I need a weekend, like never before. Only God's grace has carried me. I'm so thankful to have the LORD and His WORD to comfort my soul. David has been gone all week.......and it's probably for the best. I would have turned to him instead on falling to my knees. God's timing and Will is so much bigger and greater than I give Him credit for.

We have a lot to accomplish this weekend. We need to clean our apt tonight. We're moving a needy young couple Saturday.....and still hoping to make it to the March for Babies in support of a precious young couple that lost their baby girl last year (I blogged about it last year on my xanga). Supper Club. Worship Practice. Church. Mow yard. Buy fencing materials from Lowes........and somewhere along the way, try to unpack a few more boxes.

Married to the President

Yep, I'm officially married to the President......the President of the National Weather Association. David was voted in as president of MSU's NWA last week by his peers. He still can't wipe the silly grin off his face. What can I say?! He's my very own President. Wonder if I'll have to sing him happy birthday like Marilyn now? hmmmmm

TGIF

Well, it has been one of those weeks........one of those, that you are just plain glad for it to be over. We've had one headache after another, but it's Friday & rest is on the way.

My little brother (K) is home (He works out in Texas for a big oil company... I know, it's like working for the devil...he's the only one I know that smiles when filling up on gas...he says that it's paying his salary !!) David has a big weather conference this evening and tomorrow........So, I hope to get away and see Matt for a bit. I haven't seen him since October (at my other brother's wedding). I miss that boy. We have always been close. It's tough for me to rarely see him.

A Shout-Out for our Dad(Dale): Happy Birthday!! We hope it was wonderful & full of some R&R!!

Yet another Prayer Request:
A coworker's sister passed away this week. She found out last Friday she had lung cancer and passed away this Monday night. It was so quick. Please pray for their family. My coworker lost her husband a few years ago to cancer as well. So, it is such a sensitive and tender time for her.
