Last Weekend- Engagement Party

Last weekend, we helped host an engagement party for our friend Wes. We helped prep and serve the food, set up, wait on attendees, and clean-up. What are friends for?! Plus, Wes helped helped us "move" at least 6 or 7 times (both of us individually & together). Here's some pics of the party!

Birthday Surprise

Surprise #1
My parents surprised me with a very beautiful and unique arrangement of flowers.

After work, a co-worker friend(Peggy) took me out for appetizers at Fairpark Grill. We stayed there for almost 2 hours just chatting away. Then, she said let's go for sushi......so, we headed on over to Shogun.

I happened to notice my friend, Catherine's truck in the parking lot...but she had previously said she was going to her cousin's birthday party (so, I assumed they must be eating inside).

Surprise #2
Yeah, Catherine was inside.....along with David (who drove up from Starkville), Gina & Fisher. Not once did I ever suspect a thing.

Surprise #3
Not only did David drive up, but he even stayed last night. It doesn't take much to fill my heart up. (David normally only comes home on the weekends). I asked him, "but don't you have a test tomorrow?" His response: "I asked the professor to move it to Thursday......and she did." Wow!! Yep, I'm a blessed girl!

So, we all enjoyed a bit of sushi and fellowship. While I was in no hurry to turn 27, I'm happy to be at this stage of life. Good food + Good friends = Great Times

Thanks to all that sent birthday wishes via cards, texts, phonecalls, emails, and even facebook posts.

Surprise #4
David had a huge bouquet of flowers for me at home. (Sorry no pics).

Surprise #5

Church Happenings

We had a young preacher come and give a “trial sermon” (I’ll refrain my thoughts on that term) yesterday. We have been without a pastor for about 9 months. (Interesting fact: The preacher was the same age as David). We went out to eat with several other couples and the pastor & his family last night. I’m glad we had the opportunity to get to know them better. Our Sunday School class met with them Saturday. We were out of town Friday night and didn’t get back till Saturday after lunch. So, it was nice for us to spend a little more time getting to know the “person” not just the “preacher.”

We have had some interesting events going on in the music ministry at church. We had a new interim music director for one week. Now, we are back to “normal”…….but not exactly normal. When Tracy, music director, asked me last week to help with choir……I thought I’d be helping teach parts/harmonies. Somehow, my agreement to help…. translated into directing the choir. I haven’t done anything like that in 10 years. For their Sunday special, the choir did great! However, I was a big ball of nerves.

My favorite part of yesterday’s services: Not only was the church packed out, but everyone was fellowshipping with one another. We had a big pot-luck lunch……everyone stuck around for a while & just hung-out. Even after church last night, everyone just stayed a while and really fellowshipped. Everyone was laughing and smiling. It was refreshing. Our church needed a little laughter.

Oh.....and here's a little pic of a jam session we had at our house last weekend. We all had a blast.

Well, I don't have pics to post. I wish I did. My (kk) mom came to visit us (from New Mexico). So, as you can see.....we've had a lot of traffic come through our place!! She loves our new place as much as we do. She showed off pictures of their new home in Hobbs. They even have a few trees in their yard (a rare thing out there!!). We didn't do anything grand. We grilled out, went to some great restaurants (sushi, catfish, steakhouse), had band practice, church....etc. Oh, and the power went out again. I note that particularly....b/c the power went out when David's folks were here. This time it wasn't the weather though. A transformer blew. So, our evening of watching a movie was altered a bit.

Our lawnmower is still broken, but a co-worker (that lives 2 blocks away) lent us theirs. So, we finally cut the grass & didn't look so ghetto over the weekend. We picked up an old porch glider at an estate sale this weekend. I started sanding it yesterday and hopefully....I'll post pics of my latest project....

4th of July

We had a great visit with David's family over the 4th. Everyone got a chance to meet Jack & visit our home. How precious are our niece & nephew (Emily & Thad)?! We had great food, great fellowship, and even some fireworks.

Mom & Dad Keeney gave us a few goodies for the house. David's favorite is a towerfan that we put in our bedroom. They also showed off pics from Emily's growth. It was nice to see how fast she's grown. She's so adorable. Her Daddy (Jonathan) better have his shotgun cleaned (& loaded)....She's gonna be a heart-breaker.

David's sister, Kelly, and her family were vacationing in Tennessee. So, we got to visit them at the campsite on Saturday. We haven't all been together in a while. Hopefully, we won't go this long between visits again.
