Pain in the Back

Well…..it has just not been my week…..or last week for that matter. It seems the ol’ devil is just trying to get me down & keep me down. Last week, everything that could go wrong did…..plus some. Every day at work…..got progressively worse. I’ve never experienced anything like it.

We worked in the yard (digging up tree roots & planting hedges) Friday & Saturday…..and I started getting sick Saturday. Head pounding, throat constricting….hurting all over. I pushed thru it Saturday and finally crashed about 8pm that night. However, when I awoke Sunday morning… I felt like I had the full blown flu. I stayed in bed or on the couch all day. Well, I guess the yard work caught up to me……because as I was lying on the couch Sunday afternoon…I turned over & my back went out. Just like that. David stayed home with me Monday & Tuesday. I don’t know what I would have done without him. He’s gets an A+ for husband work this week!!

So, today is my first day “back” at work……with my heavy pain meds & muscle relaxers in toe. I’m walking like Frankenstein, but I’m here. (Don’t worry. I’m staying put all day). I hate to think that I’ve used all my vacation time till October now. (I missed a few days with David being sick earlier this year & now me). 5 days (yep that’s personal, vacation, sick etc) every six months just doesn’t cut it. There’s just something not right about that system. I was hoping for us to get away for a long weekend this summer. Alas, that’s just how it is. I’m just thankful that I did have the days to take off when I needed them.

Okay, I can tell the drugs are making me ramble a bit. On to more important & better topics:
-Saturday, the March for Babies went great. I walked for MollyKate (the daughter of friends of ours that went to be with the LORD last October). Last week, I went to a revival where her mother (Keri) shared her testimony! She’s so strong!! God bless her!! All told, the March raised $60,000. MollyKate’s team raised over $5k and won several awards. Please continue to lift up the McMillin family!
-Saturday night, SupperClub was fun & included David’s favorite food…..Tacos. Everything was delicious!! We love Mexican. Libby, I want your enchiladas recipe! Sadly, we had to leave a bit early b/c I was fading fast. David was a real trooper and took me home, gave me some medicine, & sent me to bed.
-We finally decided to have someone put up our privacy fence. It seems to be divine intervention that we made that choice. There’s no way I could do that now. It is scheduled to be finished TODAY!
-I married the most awesome man in the world!! Speaking of: David’s Cal 3 final is Friday. Keep him in your prayers.
